How we check parks.
Every listing is checked against the park’s own website. Current sources were checked September 30, 2026.
Finding parks
We started from OpenStreetMap (used only to find candidates), Wikidata and Wikipedia’s water-park categories, and the official location lists of multi-park operators. Search results were used only to find a park’s official website. We reviewed 1,535 OpenStreetMap objects tagged as water parks (many are splash pads, pools or parts of one park), 115 Wikidata items, 171 Wikipedia category entries and 93 locations from operator directories. After merging duplicates they became 960 candidates; 310 passed the official-website check.
What counts as a water park
We list standalone indoor and outdoor water parks, resort and hotel water parks, separately named water parks at theme parks, and city or county facilities whose official website describes a water park (for example several water slides with a lazy river or wave pool). We do not list ordinary swimming pools, splash pads, spray grounds or private clubs.
How each park is checked
For each candidate we saved the official website’s visitor, ticket, hours and rules pages. A park is listed only when that text establishes what it is, where it is, how visitors get in, and at least one useful visitor fact. Every published fact is tied to a quotation from that saved text; a fact we could not tie to the text is shown as not recorded. Park descriptions are written by us, not copied.
Unknown is not a fact
A missing price is shown as “Check official prices,” not free. Missing hours are shown as “Check the official calendar,” not open daily. A hotel booking page does not count as proof that day passes are sold. We never state a park-wide minimum height from a single ride’s rule.
Closures and seasons
When a park’s website announces a closure, a closed area, paused day passes or the end of its season, the park page, lists, search results and the page’s structured data all show it. A closure end date is not treated as a reopening: when the recorded period ends, the page says reopening has not been confirmed. When a park’s published season dates have passed, the page says so.
Freshness
Our rule is to recheck closure notices within seven days, prices and schedules within 30 days or at their stated end date, and addresses and contact details within 180 days. A check date on a page records when the source was reviewed; it is not a guarantee that nothing has changed since.
Coverage
This directory lists 310 water parks in 44 states. It is not a complete list of every water park in the United States. Parks whose official website we could not find or read are not listed yet; that does not mean they are closed.
Locations and distances
Map points come from the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder applied to the park’s published street address, or, where that failed, from the park’s OpenStreetMap or Wikidata location when it is within 25 miles of the published town. ZIP code search uses Census ZIP Code Tabulation Area reference points. Distances are straight-line miles, not driving distances.
Corrections
Email [email protected] with the page address and a link to the official source. We check changes against the park’s own website before updating.
